Konik is animation studio established by artists Kasia Zimnoch and Pawel Kleszczewski in Cavan, Ireland in 2013.
Kasia Zimnoch and Paweł Kleszczewski are duo of Polish filmmakers and visual artist living in Ireland. They create animations based on mythology, folklore and legends. In their animations, they combine artistic experience with elements of art history, ethnology and cultural anthropology. They work together, Paweł’s background is a painting and Kasia’s art history. Both graduated MA on Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. In 2013, they established animation production studio Konik in Cavan. Their recent animation Broken Tale received BEST INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION AWARD on XXIX Fano Film Festival in Italy. They received also Cavan County Council Arts Development Award 2016. Works on the project were conducted during artistic residencies in Jönköping in Sweden, Centre For Creative Industries in Tartu, Estonia and in Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland. Their Broken Tale animation has received media patronage of TVP Kultura; and has been presented at numerous international festivals. They also received grant Polish Culture Around the World funded by Adam Mickiewicz Institute. Film was presented over 30 International Film and Arts Festivals.
